FOUNDATIONS · 첫 발걸음
2024년 1월 신희준 센터장의 정식 임명을 기점으로, 다음 세대 재난의학 전문가를 양성한다는 목표를 교육과 연구의 현장으로 옮겼습니다.
Following Heejun Shin’s formal appointment as director in January 2024, the center pursued its goal of educating the next generation of disaster medicine professionals.
11월 아부다비 WHO EMT 글로벌 회의에서는 KDRT의 관리·훈련과 인도적 위기를 다룬 연구를 공유했습니다. 12월에는 대구시 지원·경북대학교 주최 CBRNe 재난 교육에 센터 강사진이 참여했습니다.
November research presentations at the WHO EMT Global Meeting addressed KDRT management, training and humanitarian crises. In December, center faculty contributed to CBRNe education hosted by Kyungpook National University with support from Daegu City.

연구는 논문으로, 만남은 국제 심포지엄으로, 임상 경험은 저술과 교육으로 이어졌습니다.
Research became publications, international encounters became a symposium, and clinical experience informed books and teaching.
같은 강의실에서 서로 다른 현장의 경험을 나누고, 다시 각자의 현장으로 가져가는 연결. 센터의 성장은 함께 배우고 가르치는 사람들의 관계 속에서도 이어졌습니다.
People brought different field experiences into a shared classroom—and carried new perspectives back to their own work. The center’s development also took shape through these relationships.

An ISCRAM presentation in The Hague, faculty participation in San Marino and an invited lecture in the ACEP collaborative series connect international teaching with continuing research development.
『응급실관리의학』의 2026 세종도서 학술부문 선정은 저술의 성과로 남았습니다. JOSHUA는 PREPARE·ELISHA·NOAH의 연구 방향을 다듬으며 다음 협력을 준비하고 있습니다.
Emergency Department Management Medicine was selected for the 2026 Sejong academic books program. JOSHUA continues to develop the PREPARE, ELISHA and NOAH research directions and future collaboration.
신희준 센터장은 하버드 의과대학 연구 전임의와 BIDMC Disaster Medicine Fellowship 과정을 거쳐, 자신의 경험을 한국의 재난의학 교육과 국제 협력으로 이어 왔습니다. 임상에서 마주한 질문을 책으로 정리하고, 강의실에서 나누며, 다시 연구의 질문으로 발전시키는 길입니다.
After serving as a Research Fellow at Harvard Medical School and completing the BIDMC Disaster Medicine Fellowship, Heejun Shin has carried that experience into disaster medicine education in Korea and international collaboration. His journey connects questions from clinical practice with scholarly books, teaching and new research directions.

재난이 닥쳤을 때, 배운 지식은 실제 행동으로 이어질 수 있을까요? SCH 재난의학센터의 JOSHUA 이야기는 이 질문을 국제 공동연구의 언어로 옮기는 과정입니다. 2025년 ESTHER 제안 경험을 바탕으로, 신희준 센터장은 목표와 협력 구조를 다시 검토하고 다음 연구 구상을 발전시켰습니다.
Can the knowledge we teach become effective action when disaster strikes? JOSHUA is the SCH Disaster Medicine Center’s effort to translate that question into international research planning. Building on the 2025 ESTHER proposal experience, Heejun Shin revisited objectives and collaboration structures to develop the next generation of research concepts.

2026년 6월 1일, 헤이그 ISCRAM에서 한–독 디지털 CBRNe 훈련 기획 연구를 발표했습니다. 서로 다른 기관이 같은 상황을 어떻게 이해하고 함께 훈련할 것인가. 국제 학회에서 다룬 질문은 이후 JOSHUA의 설계 문서와 검토 작업으로 이어졌습니다.
On 1 June 2026, Heejun Shin presented Korean–German research on planning a digital cross-border CBRNe drill at ISCRAM in The Hague. How can different agencies understand the same situation and train together? These questions informed subsequent JOSHUA design and review work.
6월 7일자 디지털·AI 설계 기록과 통합 분석은 학회에서 얻은 지식을 연구 방향별로 정리한 흔적입니다. 기술의 역할, 사람의 검토, 접근성과 권리 보호를 함께 검토하며 교육과 의사결정을 지원하는 방향을 구체화했습니다.
Digital and AI design records and integration analyses dated 7 June show how conference learning was organized for the research portfolio. The work considered technology alongside human review, accessibility and rights protection to support education and decision-making.

7월에는 산마리노 WADEM Disaster Medicine Summer School 교수진으로 참여해 CBRN 대비 경험을 나눴습니다. 이어 라오스 보건의료인 교육과 ACEP 협력 온라인 강연에서 재난의학의 실무·교육·리더십을 연결했습니다.
In July, he served as faculty at the WADEM Disaster Medicine Summer School in San Marino, sharing experience in CBRN preparedness. Training for Lao health professionals and an invited lecture in the ACEP collaborative series further connected disaster medicine practice, education and leadership.
센터의 특수성은 임상, 교육, 저술, 국제 연구기획을 연결하는 데 있습니다. 강연 사진 뒤에는 교육 내용을 준비하고, 동료의 의견을 듣고, 훈련과 연구 설계를 다시 다듬는 작업이 함께 이어집니다.
The center connects clinical medicine, teaching, scholarly writing and international research planning. Behind the lecture photographs lies continuing work to prepare educational material, listen to colleagues and refine training and research designs.

6월 24·25·26일과 7월 14일의 개념서 개정 기록, 여름의 협력 소개자료, 9월의 통합 분석은 반복해서 검토하고 수정한 시간을 보여줍니다. 연구 목표를 나누고, 기관의 역할을 조율하고, 교육·검증·윤리의 연결을 점검하는 일입니다.
Concept-note revisions dated 24, 25 and 26 June and 14 July, summer outreach briefs and September integration analyses document sustained review and revision. This work clarifies objectives, coordinates institutional roles and examines the connections between education, validation and ethics.
