ACEP Research Forum 2026 구두발표 2건 채택
신희준 SCH 재난의학센터장의 연구 2건이 미국 시카고에서 열리는 ACEP Research Forum 2026 구두발표로 채택되었습니다.
채택된 연구는 총기난사 대비를 위한 미국 카운티 단위 의료 접근 취약성 지표(TMAVI) 연구와 허리케인 이언 이후 사회적 취약성 및 병원 접근성 손실 연구입니다. 서로 다른 재난 상황에서 지역 주민이 필요한 의료에 도달할 수 있는지를 살펴봅니다.

Two studies accepted for oral presentation at ACEP Research Forum 2026
Two studies by Heejun Shin, Director of the SCH Disaster Medicine Center, have been accepted for oral presentation at ACEP Research Forum 2026 in Chicago, USA.
The studies examine a county-level Tactical Medical Access Vulnerability Index (TMAVI) for mass-shooting preparedness and the relationship between social vulnerability and loss of hospital access after Hurricane Ian. Both address how communities can reach needed medical care during disasters.
This announcement concerns acceptance. The conference presentations are forthcoming.

International policy analysis on AI and public-health preparedness for CBRN emergencies
An international paper coauthored by Heejun Shin was published online on 5 August 2026 in Disaster Medicine and Public Health Preparedness.
The policy analysis discusses preparedness for chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear emergencies in the Middle East and North Africa. It considers interagency coordination, data governance and the use of AI with validation and human oversight.

강연에서는 재난의학 펠로우십에서 얻은 경험을 임상 실무, 교육체계와 조직 리더십으로 연결하는 과정을 소개했습니다. 이 강연 시리즈는 UMass, 미국 국립재난의학·공중보건센터(NCDMPH), 미국응급의학회(ACEP)의 협력으로 운영됩니다.
Invited ACEP lecture on disaster medicine practice, education and leadership
Heejun Shin delivered an invited international online disaster medicine lecture on 21 July 2026 in US local time, corresponding to 22 July in Korea.
He discussed translating disaster medicine fellowship experience into clinical practice, educational systems and organizational leadership. The lecture series is jointly organized by UMass, the US National Center for Disaster Medicine and Public Health (NCDMPH), and the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP).

2026년 7월 20일, 신희준 센터장은 한국국제보건의료재단(KOFIH) 이종욱 펠로우십에 참여한 라오스 보건의료인 8명을 대상으로 3시간의 CIREcourse: Chemical 교육을 진행했습니다.
교육은 중증도 분류·처치·이송(TTT) 실습과 화학 다수사상자 상황을 다루는 Operation WOMBAT 도상훈련을 연결했습니다. 참가자들은 반복적인 의사결정과 피드백을 통해 팀 기반 대응과 기관 간 협력 과정을 연습했습니다.
Chemical disaster response training for health professionals from Laos
On 20 July 2026, Heejun Shin delivered a three-hour CIREcourse: Chemical session for eight Lao health professionals participating in the KOFIH Lee Jong-wook Fellowship.
The course combined triage, treatment and transport (TTT) practice with Operation WOMBAT, a tabletop exercise for a chemical mass-casualty incident. Repeated decision-making and feedback supported practice in team response and interagency coordination.

신희준 센터장은 2026년 7월 16일 부산대학교병원에서 열린 제6회 대한외상소생협회 심포지엄에 초청연자로 참여했습니다.
강연에서는 전술적 응급환자 처치(TECC)를 중심으로 현장 안전과 신속한 의료 대응의 균형, 경찰·소방·응급의료팀의 공조, 현장에서 병원으로 이어지는 대응체계를 논의했습니다.
Invited TECC lecture at the sixth Korean Trauma Resuscitation Association symposium
Heejun Shin was an invited speaker at the sixth Korean Trauma Resuscitation Association symposium, held at Pusan National University Hospital on 16 July 2026.
The lecture addressed Tactical Emergency Casualty Care (TECC), balancing scene safety with prompt medical response, coordination among police, fire and emergency medical teams, and the transition from the scene to hospital care.

Faculty participation in the WADEM Disaster Medicine Summer School in San Marino
Heejun Shin served as faculty at the WADEM Disaster Medicine Summer School in San Marino from 3 to 5 July 2026.
The event brought together WADEM, CTM-E and CEMEC and covered mass-casualty response, triage, preparedness and command, humanitarian response, and simulation-based education. CEMEC's event report highlighted his contribution to CBRN preparedness.

Heejun Shin presented at EUROMED Forum in San Marino on 3 July 2026, addressing the connection between disaster medicine education and operational readiness.
Drawing on Korean experience in disaster medicine and CBRNe preparedness, he discussed integrating simulation, interagency coordination and evaluation into training.

Korean–German CBRNe drill-planning research presented at ISCRAM 2026
On 1 June 2026, Heejun Shin presented a Practitioner Insights and Perspectives (PiP) paper at ISCRAM 2026 in The Hague, Netherlands, on planning a digital cross-border CBRNe drill.
The work involved collaboration between Soonchunhyang University Bucheon Hospital / SCH Disaster Medicine Center and researchers at TH Köln, Germany. It addressed interagency coordination, shared terminology and information, and exercise design, while outlining future simulation-based research directions.
